Press Release: CIIM Partners to Provide Kentucky Fans Safe Rides for Georgia Football Game
WASHINGTON – This weekend, the Coalition of Ignition Interlock Manufacturers (CIIM) is helping fund a campaign by Lyft, to provide discounts for sober rides to fans celebrating the Kentucky versus Georgia football game.
Lyft has agreed to offer up to $20,000 worth of sober ride discounts on Saturday between Noon and 2 a.m, that riders can redeem by using the code “CATURDAY”
“Our goal is to stop drunk driving recidivism,” said David Kelly, Executive Director of the Coalition of Ignition Interlock Manufacturers.“Last year, there were 24,357 drunk driving arrests across Kentucky and we believe we can be part of the solution to stop repeat offenses. But preventing the first offense is the best solution so we’re glad to participate in this effort to keep SEC fans safe.”
Fans above the legal drinking age are encouraged to plan their transportation before they begin drinking. By entering the promo code “CATURDAY” in the Lyft app, it will provide them two $10 dollar discounts for rides to the game or a local bar and a safe ride back to their residence or hotel.
Other partners joining CIIM in funding the effort include the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, the University of Kentucky, Keeneland, VisitLex, Brown-Forman and Maker’s Mark.
